Today son Mike treated me to lunch at a new local restaurant – J’s Asian Café on Jones’s Bridge Road in Johns Creek, GA. They just opened and specialize in Chinese, Thai, Malaysian and Sushi. They took over a spot of a failed restaurant in a small strip center and this almost never turns out well.
Mike and I are watching carbs so we ordered the Sashimi 9 piece assorted fresh raw fish special. We thought we were going to be able to choose which fish we wanted but the waiter said that the choice of fish was up to the Sushi Chef. We would not have a choice.
When the waiter brought our Sashimi Mike and I were taken aback and just stared at the presentation. This was the most beautiful Sashimi Mike and I had ever seen and quite frankly he and I both took our time admiring the presentation before we started to eat. The dishes were made up of two pieces each squid, yellowfin, salmon and tuna with one shrimp tail. They sat on a bed of daikon radish strings in a large martini glass. Just absolutely beautiful.
Mike, being a typical young man, went through his lunch like Sherman went through Georgia. I, on the other hand, took mine time an savored ever bite. It was a great lunch.
I am not going to review a restaurant that I have only visited once, unless it is not local and I am not going to be able to return to, but I am going to recommend the Sashimi at J’s Asian Cafe and I hope they make it big. I want to try other dishes there like the Fish Head Rice Vermicelli Soup….well maybe not.
