I have never made brittle (or any candy before) but I was in the holiday mood and decided to make this brittle when I ran across the recipe on MyRecipes.com. The first thing I had to do was buy a new candy thermometer, inexpensive at Wal-Mart. With Vera’s help watching the temperatures targets it took no time at all to make the brittle – and it was fun.
The brittle was great! I could taste a hint of orange zest and rosemary though next time I am going to add half again as much rosemary to the mix. The brittle did not last long and I ended up sharing some with neighbor Marlene for some of her homemade Christmas cookies and a cookie recipe that I’ll share with you in a different post.
